Mogens Kilstrup has expertise in gene regulation, microbial physiology, and molecular biology, with emphasis on medically and industrial important bacteria as Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli and Lactococcus lactis. Speciel expertise is found in the area of stress response and the genetics and physiology of nucleotide metabolism.
Mogens Kilstrup received his master degree in 1986 in biochemistry from the University of Copenhagen and his PhD degree in Molecular biology in 1992, from the same place. After a Post doctoral position at DTU from 1993, he was appointed as associate professor in 2000 and advanced to Docent (full education related professor) in 2008.
Mogens Kilstrup is the study leader of the biotechnology bachelor education at DTU and is currently responsible for courses in Bacterial Cell Biology and Biotechnology and communication. He has been supervisor for a number of bachelor-, master- and PhD projects. Mogens Kilstrup functions as a peer coach on teaching for newly appointed assistant professors, and is the member of the Institute education counsel and the CUU educational board at DTU. He is the author or co-author of more than 25 scientific papers that have been cited more than 900 times, and has international collaboration with a number of scientific groups.
