Bachelor Courses

The overall objectives for the bachelor courses taught at CSM, and the contact person are given below:

Molecular Microbiology (27025). The objective of the course is to offer the students a basic knowledge of microorganisms and their molecular biology. After having taken the course, the acquired knowledge on the methods and paradigms in molecular microbiology should enable the students to follow a discussion amongst professionals, as well as to read literature within molecular microbiology. Furthermore, after the course the students should master the basic experimental skills in molecular microbiology (contact Jan Martinussen)

Biotechnological project (27010). The objective of the course is that the student, by performing a review project within biotechnology, microbiology, biochemistry, or bioinformatics coupled to a small research project, becomes qualified in professional literature search, writing a report following the guidelines for research articles from an international journal, as well as oral presentation of the information using digital media (contact Jan Martinussen).

Bioscience (27002). The objective of the course is to acquire knowledge about the cell structure, their biological functions, biochemical and molecular biological processes together with biotechnological processes. With this background the students should be able to discuss present biotechnological problems (contact Søren Molin)

Design of Bio- and Environmental processes (27006). The learning objectives of the course should enable a student, through design of a company and writing a buisness plan, to:

  • Perform a simple literature and internet search, to obtain information about the production, utilization and environmental properties of a given product.
  • Use brain storming and mind mapping as idea-generating techniques in connection with concept design.
  • Function as an efficient team member.
  • Establish contact to consultants and efficiently obtain the desired information.
  • Account for the important elements in an environmental (VVM) report.
  • Describe a complex process in a process diagram, and briefly describe the rationale behind mass balances.
  • Write a business-plan, describing concept, processes, economy and environmental considerations.
  • Convey information in a concise and convincing fashion, with the requirements of the target group in mind (the target group being an investment group without specific technical knowledge).
  • Create and present a poster that clearly and concise describes a business-plan.
  • Present the information from a report in a slide show
